Political upheaval, poverty, oppression of the weak and helpless, ethnic hatred, violence, diseases with no cure, no respect for life, mercy and kindness in short supply—this was life in the 1st century. It’s also a good description of life in the 21st century. But Jesus . . . he makes all things new. Let’s learn together in the book of Acts how his Spirit filled his people so that their lives, relationships, and world were transformed. The fight against evil within and without is just as real today, but Jesus still reigns over all and in all. We can be filled with him, follow him, and be part of repairing the world with the good news of new life in Christ. It all starts with asking him for help and hearing what he has to say to us in his Word.
